Weston has some of the biggest roof spaces in North Somerset. The Victorian and Edwardian terraces and villas near the seafront are tall, often already three storeys, with steep roofs that can take a proper room without changing the shape of the building much.
Inland, around Worle and Milton, it is a different housing stock again: interwar semis, post-war estates and bungalows, where a dormer or a roof alteration is usually what makes the numbers work.
Seafront properties need materials and detailing chosen for salt-laden air. Further inland the plots are more generous, and a rear extension can open the back of the house up properly.
